ITI Conference 2007
The Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) held its 21st birthday conference at the Rembrandt Hotel in Kensington, London. Bill Maslen, Managing Director of The Word Gym, was invited to give the final address at the conference, summing up the themes covered during the two-day event and reflecting on the future of the fast-developing translation industry.

Article in The Linguist: 'Walking the tightrope'
Article published in the journal of the Chartered Institute of Linguists highlighting the risk to the translation industry as a whole of catering to the belief (if only by omission) that translation is simply about mechanical subsitution.

ITI Scottish Network summer workshop: 'Creativity in Translation'
The Scottish Network of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (the main UK association for professional translators and interpreters) held a summer workshop at the Byre Theatre in St. Andrews this year. The Word Gym's Managing Director, Bill Maslen, spoke at the workshop on the challenges of creative translation applied to promotional material (often referred to as "transcreation").
